As of January 2009, RI - IPL had a participation list of 120 Rhode Island congregations representing all mainstream faiths and cutting across socioeconomic lines. That translates to a representation of roughly 50,000 Rhode Island residents with a common interest in taking significant steps to combat climate change.

·      First organized January 2007

·      Represent congregations from all major faiths. Membership is FREE and the benefits are substantial.

·      Ongoing outreach effort to build a broad representative base of the entire faith community

·      Our interests: education, outreach, advocacy, action

·      Coordinated free showings of An Inconvenient Truth in congregations around Rhode Island during Earth Day 2007

·      We are a state chapter of the national Interfaith Power and Light

·      We rely on tax-deductible donations from congregations and the public  -- we are a registered 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization.
